# Preparation

### Before you start

Finish this setup before you reinstall or run the loader.

Wrong prep can break the method or stop the install.

<summary>Choose your Intel path</summary>

Use a clean Windows reinstall with a virtual disk.

RAID is not supported on Intel CPUs.

Use the virtual disk method for:

* Rust
* Fortnite, DayZ, SCUM, PUBG, Hunt: Showdown
* Dead By Daylight, Rainbow Six Siege, SQUAD

1. Open **Task Manager** → **Performance** → **CPU**.
2. Confirm you are on Intel.
3. Plan the game drive size before you create the `VHDX`.

<summary>Choose your AMD path</summary>

Use the method that matches your game.

* **Rust** — RAID reinstall is required
* **All other supported games** — use a virtual disk

Use the virtual disk method for:

* Fortnite, DayZ, SCUM, PUBG
* Hunt: Showdown, Dead By Daylight
* Rainbow Six Siege, SQUAD

Check your socket in **Task Manager** → **Performance** → **CPU**:

* `AM4` — Ryzen 5000 and older
* `AM5` — Ryzen 7000 and newer

Windows Defender can block the loader.

Use Defender Control before launch.

2. Extract it.
3. Use the password `sordum`.
4. Run `DControl.exe` as administrator.
5. Turn Windows Defender off fully.

<summary>Check BIOS requirements</summary>

1. Restart your PC and enter BIOS with `F2` or `Del`.
2. Disable **Secure Boot**.
3. Disable virtualization settings like `VT-x`, `VT-d`, `VMX`, `AMD-V`, `SVM`, or `IOMMU`.
4. Save with `F10` and restart.

If BIOS locks the setting, change the OS type to **Other OS** first.

<summary>Set AMD RAID BIOS options for Rust</summary>

Only use this for **AMD + Rust**.

Set these values before Windows install:

* `SATA Mode` → `RAID`
* `NVMe Mode` → `Enabled`
* `CSM` → `Disabled`

Board paths:

* **ASUS** — **Advanced** → **SATA Configuration**
* **GIGABYTE** — **Settings** → **IO Ports**
* **ASRock** — **Advanced** → **Storage Config**
* **MSI** — **Advanced** → **Integrated Peripherals**

If your disks do not appear, verify `UEFI` is enabled.

<summary>Clean the system first</summary>

After reinstall, use a brand new offline account.

Do not sign into an old Windows account.

Do not sign into these during setup:

* OneDrive
* GeForce Experience
* Medal

Only do this for **AMD + Rust**.

Delete existing arrays in `RAIDXpert2` before creating the new one.

Back up anything important first.

2. Install **.NET Framework** and **DirectX**.
3. Download **WinRAR** if you need to unpack archives.

<summary>Prepare AMD RAID files for Rust</summary>

Use this only for **AMD + Rust**.

1. Create a Windows USB.
2. Download and extract `RAID.rar`.
3. Copy only your `AM4` or `AM5` RAID folder to the USB.
4. Add `autounattend.xml` if you use Windows 11.

<details>

<summary>Complete AMD RAID reinstall for Rust</summary>

This method is mandatory for **Rust** on AMD.

If you skip the correct RAID drivers during Windows setup, no disk will appear.

#### Step 1 — Identify your socket

1. Right-click the taskbar and open **Task Manager**.
2. Open **Performance**.
3. Click **CPU** and check the model name.

Use:

* `AM4` for Ryzen 5000 and older
* `AM5` for Ryzen 7000 and newer

#### Step 2 — Prepare the USB correctly

Your USB should contain:

* normal Windows setup files
* your `AM4 - RAID` or `AM5 - RAID` folder
* `autounattend.xml` for Windows 11
* `setup.exe`
* `Realtek.exe` as an optional network driver

Do not leave `RAID.rar` unextracted.

#### Step 3 — Enable RAID in BIOS

Set:

* `SATA Mode` → `RAID`
* `NVMe Mode` → `Enabled`
* `CSM` → `Disabled`

Board paths:

* **ASUS** — **Advanced** → **SATA Configuration**
* **GIGABYTE** — **Settings** → **IO Ports**
* **ASRock** — **Advanced** → **Storage Config**
* **MSI** — **Advanced** → **Integrated Peripherals**

Save with `F10`.

If disks still do not appear, make sure `UEFI` is enabled.

#### Step 4 — Delete old arrays

Open **Advanced** → **RAIDXpert2** → **Array Management**.

Then:

1. Click **Delete Array**.
2. Check **All**.
3. Click **Delete Array(s)**.
4. Confirm with **YES**.

This wipes all data on the selected array.

#### Step 5 — Create the new RAID array

Open **Array Management** → **Create Array**.

Then:

1. Set **Raid Level** to `RAIDABLE` for one disk or `RAID0` for multiple.
2. Check the physical disk or disks.
3. Click **Apply Changes**.
4. Click **Create Array**.

If you use multiple disks, create a separate array for each disk.

#### Step 6 — Install Windows with RAID drivers

Use **Windows 10 Pro**.

During setup:

* skip the product key
* turn off all privacy settings
* use an offline account

At **Where do you want to install Windows?**:

1. Click **Load driver**.
2. Browse to the USB RAID folder.
3. Select `AMD-RAID Bottom Device` and press **Next**.
4. Click **Load driver** again.
5. Open the same folder.
6. Select `AMD-RAID Controller` and press **Next**.
7. Select your RAID disk.
8. Continue Windows installation.

#### Final verification

After install:

1. Open **Task Manager** → **Performance** → **Disk (C:)**.
2. Confirm it shows `AMD-RAID Array X` or `SCSI Disk Device`.

If not, repeat the process from USB preparation.

#### After installation

1. Use a brand new offline account.
2. Do not sign into OneDrive, GeForce Experience, or Medal.
3. Install `vc_redist.x64.exe`.
